#MyStarbucksCup

it was the #MyStarbucksCup challenge, and i decided to doodle for fun before all my work starts to pile up
the first one i entered was on 'a beautiful day'
inspired by those beautiful pictures from the net and the twitter bird itself
but i was late in submitting my work..however there are still people who like it, so i'm glad
just for the love of doodling!!haha!!

the second one was on friendship..and i knew what to draw from the very beginning
and i know its meant to dedicate to a friend that appreciate art or shall i say doodling
thank you so much for being there

and without carrying much hope, becoz some of them really had some great doodling
i was selected as one of the winner
i was really really happy, i guess some luck came from the friend too.:)
so i waited and waited for the mystery gift parcel from Starbucks

finally its here..tada!!!!!! the beautiful limited edition cup..i'm going to drink my VIA using it
and of coz voucher!!! that means more Starbucks!!! Awesome!!!
love it!!!
Thanks once again Starbucks!!!

this is going to be a short one
she didn't have a good dessert previously, and i decided to bring her one
and she chooses waffle above cheesecake

and here we are at Gelare which is suppose to be famous for their gelato
but their waffle fair equally good to me
this is the place when i have my waffle craving

a friend told me how good is the States waffle but since i haven't had a chance to step there yet
so i shall just enjoy what's best here
i adore AnW waffle previosuly, but now this is NO.1
piping hot waffle, four dollop of whipped cream, drizzled of maple and ice cream
nothing special but yum yum..

pwettie enjoying her tutti frutti waffle

+wondermilk

its my first outing with this pwettie, i meant with only both of us
not knowing where to go, so just dropped by this wonder place since it been quite some time from my last visit
this place doesn't need much introduction, but this time not for their famous cuppy but only for a simple brekkie

i love the deco of the place a lot, very vintage, paintings, frames, different chairs and tables for each side
very modern yet rustic, i realize i love to use the word rustic a lot nowadays..habit habit..
and its very comfortable, its like as though i can sit here for the whole day doing nothing

love the pastel desk, if only the school desk were like that last time
wondermilk sell cupcakes for all occasion and you can also custom made your cupcakes, just pre-order from them, my first custome made cupcake was also from them
they have allocate a place where they sell stationary, name cards, lomo camera and etc

two cup of latte pls, our quick fix for the morning
we are all latte kaki

then, its sandwich time, i love the presentation of their sandwiches
you can either eat in or take away
and another think i like was the side salad, i know i know its just salad you want to say, but its the honey mustar @ black pepper dressing that i fell for, i was using my fork to scrap it, it was a well balanced dressing, if only i can ask for more right
i had the honey mustard chicken sandwich but i don't remember hers though..haha
nicely toast, generous fillings and yummy..
the only downside is the price to some might be at the steep side, but this is not going to be my staple lunch, nvm ler..(its good to stay where i am now, save $$$)

pwettie with her sandwiches

we had good breakfast but the ultimate plan is to bring her for dessert
coming up next

Cannie's Bday!!

i guess it had been a tradition for me to celebrate her bday!!! and this year no need run around crazily with balloon like previous year.
still remember the cake she baked me years back when its my bday..for continuous year she had been baking for me before she went for AFS program..she seldom bake so its precious.when is the next cake huh *hinting
this year is the first year of me driving her out during bday
yes, me no drive all the years before until intern started. i got a good gang of personal drivers
and driving to KL was the worst thing for me, i'm always lost
but finally i found Levain despite being there numerous time, its good since she never been there before

we plan to have light breakfast since we are heading for other but i guess we are just spoilt with choices
Levain services had gain many comments including me where services were just bad, not attentive, slow, and place is just super noisy and crowded
but today was not that bad, guess its still early and they had renovated the upper floor to accommodate more customers, but some bread that i like seems to went missing
so i had my Mentaiko baguette, they are GENEROUS with the mentaiko that day, nom nom yum yum
she loves the croissant layered with ham and also the custard bun
and we bought a loaf of their signature maple toast too..never missed that there.

and she actually caught her eyes on this egg sandwich
she loves it to the max, don't ask why. as i always said, sometimes simplicity is the best

after brunch, we head down to Pavillion for shopping and Mel is suppose to give her a surprise
manatau she was totally not surprise. Plan failed!! Cheh!!

we headed down to Market Hall for a drink since we are still full. next time for food then.
being another restaurant under Chaswood Sdn Bhd that equally own Fridays, Italiannies, Laundry, The Malones, Teh Tarik Place, The Republic Bar, The Apartment and the latest i know Watami
this place is nicely reviewed by SC in her fb.

its a beautiful restaurant and quite spacious with a open design floor plan, love those wooden tables and chairs
very cozy presentation of the restaurant especially at the inner end part where they have the tall tables and chairs. and yes the place was basically empty when we were there until we left

and there is a part where they sell groceries product, tea, coffee, dried items and also lotsa lotsa drinks

they have tonnes and tonnes of Brickford and my favorite Lorina
i love Lorina pink lemonade

but i choose Brickfords' Ginger Beer to quench my thirst, my usual staple when they are out of ginger ale or bitter lemon

complimentary flat bread stick with tomato dip

mua sis and her baby. these two girls can really chit chat non stop..and i meant non-stop
that's why they finish their iced latte and ice lemon tea much faster than me
talk talk talk...slurp slurp slurp..talk talk talk..slurp slurp slurp
and time passed by..its always great to meet Mel and having her to fill me in details of the proposal
congratulations again Mel!!!!! hope to see you soon for another outing!! send my regards to Wilson ya!

see see!! kawaii right mua sista..maybe bcoz she is in love!!! haha
where's my bro in law..seems missing in action

Mel left us and mua sista need dinner, she is Hungry and we had another yummy delicious dinner, that's for the next post

HAPPY BELATED CANNIE

Lets bake!!

the process of making 100 tarts alone wasn't really fun as it was pretty tiring
but seeing the piping hot tart coming out from oven was absolutely fun, unmolding each tiny little quiche, i'm happy..i'm even happier that they love the tarts especially the extra lemony tart :)
'sour for the right reason' sounds so good

mini lemony tart + tine meeny mushroom scallion quiche

The Porky Dinner

daddy and mommy needs to go for wedding dinner, and i'm lazy to ring anyone up
but still i need a good dinner, without companion since i was already too tired to have any accompany after a long day
and there is some leftover rice in the fridge, i guess that's the best ingredients for some wicked fried rice

looks quite yummy right? syiok sendiri pulak. Ahem...
but it was really quite yummy ler of coz nothing comparable to those Chinese restaurant outside with big wok and wok hei!!!

Fragrant rice + Chinese Sausage + Pork belly marinated with miso and mirin + eggs + lotsa fried garlic + fresh green scallion harvested from mommy's pot
love it to the max when i'm hungry and accompanied with this:

steam tofu with pork belly and salted fish
a typical home cooked dish taught by mommy and friend
and since darling was mentioning buying kiam hu from her recent trip to Pangkor, i tell her to cook this and she actually say: ' cook and post a pic'
and i actually go and layan her request for things that is like so easy and simple for her..GOSH!!
tofu must always be at the bottom thinly sliced (a bit too thick on mine), layered with marinated pork belly and of coz loaded with kiam hu on top (mommy say must be Mui Heong wor), other must condiments; chopped garlic, ginger and chillies. Finally top with scallion and a dash of Chinese wine
lets scream WICKED!!! mommy chef also advice only to go with rice but i go with fried rice. Equally awesome!

and half of everything becomes mom's lunch the next day

not bad for a dinner by myself

Antipodean Cafe

its another day where i basically have nothing to do and decided to head down Bangsar for breakkie all by myself since everyone is at work and i'm sitting alone in home
erm, this cafe is also another place for coffee that have been highly raved but also highly 'commented'
even a friend of mine was commenting, its not worth a visit
but its unfair to judge if i din pay a visit myself right

nevermind the good or bad comment, this place is fully packed when i reach and until i left, its still fully packed.
once a table being cleaned, new customers start sitting down, maybe its not that bad huh
service was considered fast looking at the amount of customers in house
i didn't have a chance to walk to the end of the cafe to look at the cake display also as it was so crowded but i love the crowd that day.it not like those Chinese kopitiam crowd. if you could understand
i was just sitting at one corner where i can mostly see everyone.observing mood on. haha!!

for the menu, just tilt your head to the right, and you can see a whole long list of menu
and i meant it when i say long, its the whole stretch of wall
from coffee, teas, juices, breakfast item, salads, main course, porridge (the Western kind like Bircher),Thai food, dessert...u name it, they basically have it.kitchen is really really busy for MEP..and one good news BREAKFAST WHOLE DAY LONG!!! and they serve PORK BACON

Antipodean emphasize a lot on their coffee, mainly Arabica blends from Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi and Bali. Its produced by Merdeka coffee, a Indonesia-based franchise
but black wasn't my choice for the day, opted for a latte
love the lovey love on the foam but don't like the extreme hot latte that almost burnt my tongue
it was really hot that i need to stir stir stir to cool it down slightly and the aroma of coffee wasn't really there
hmm, maybe business was too good and the barista made an error.

then i had my French Toast with maple syrup and pork bacon
it looks a bit pathetic right, but its the presentation la
nothing very special, but you don't get much place selling toast + Bacon + maple in Klang Valley though
and this was yummy.awesome threesome combination even they look like they doesn't pair
i always prefer maple on toast or pancake compared to honey, should have order extra bacon huh..rustic!!!

a good breakfast or brunch, to start off the day and i might just drop by for another trial of coffee and since there are still so so so much more items on the menu

ooohhh..and i found a new gem in BV, at Ben's General Store..big big muffin..
i guess they are almost the same size as Starbucks, and i bought the chorizo muffin and a few other pastries
i had a bite of the muffin and it was delicious. savory muffin is good once in a while with the price of RM10 for one muffin
this place has varieties of fresh bread on their display, very tempting, even English muffin. Cant wait to get those muffin to do my Eggs Benedict, or Egg Florentine??

poached egg + Hollandaise sauce + Pork Bacon + Rockets + Toasted English Muffin

Blue Cow Cafe

formally known as the Fogal's Meat Market, now its Blue Cow Cafe though i din see any blue cow, that's good
This cafe has similar concept with Jarrod Rawlins as they also sell raw meat item, burger patties, meat skewers, sausage, their pork chop look pretty tempting..but i shall safe it for other time then
today its meant for BURGER TIME!!! with my two dearies or the pastry hunter/baker!!
they had quite some choices and i was like ' i want this..i wan this..i want that' and finally i settle down with this:

 the Mexican burger
the portion was pretty big..and the patty was a chorizo patty..interesting right..with beans, tomato, lotsa lotsa chillies and onions..so Mexican right!!! i just need some guacamole and tortilla chips to complete it..haha..

can you see the amount of chillies..sumore is bird eye kind.this is only a part of it.
although i took spicy food, i still need to dig out part of it.or should i say big part of it
but i love the patty, it was juicy, doneness was just right, flavorful and the bun was pretty good too although i still adores Daily Grind wholemeal bun!!
the mashed potato was yummy. im not sure is it commercial or home made, but its creamy and the gravy not too salty. the only downside was the vegetable, it was almost or totally tasteless..aiks.should have at least sauté a bit huh.

Sheila's United Kingdom burger or London burger. i don't remember!!!
but i remember we love the wedges with sour cream
not much place i get wedges with that though..crisp crisp..i guess this is commercial pack wedges..nevermind that.
she loves her burger too, it was nicely done according to her, juicy patty, with the brown sauce but how does it resembles the Union Jack??

the finale burger belongs to my dear cooler a.k.a Xiao Ly French Fries burger
okay, they don't name it that way, i named it coz she don't have a flag. sounds so pathetic right.haha
she had a porky porky burger with mashed potato and chips. two starch, wonder why, she dun like vege..haha

see see..there they are..
very funny and cheerful people, my cooler always laugh at my reaction, i will always laugh at hers too..
'omg, wahhhh...ooooo....aaaaaa....'
and Sheila, she is one friend i know i can ask for advice, her story always amaze me..hope mine one day will be as cool as hers!!

miss u gals!!!

double breakfast

yeah!!! Kimmie is back from Romania
and as usual she need a quick fix from her tipsy movement the day before
and i decided to venture to part of the town that i'm not familiar with
to had some kick ass coffee

Coffee Famille
it was a small little cafe chucked at rows of new shop houses
love the exterior of the shop as it was very welcoming, another homey place
i guess it was still early, the place is still pretty empty when we were there

saw the lady behind the bar? a very lovely owner, very friendly
and she is also the Barista, if i'm not mistaken i read some where she was train in Taiwan
they serve freshly brewed coffee, syphon coffee even ice drip
and what's amazing they ROAST their own coffee!!!! YES, they have their own roasted right behind the bar
i guess the coffee trend is really the hip things now

and since there weren't much choice, we decided to have their H.E.Y breakfast
Healthy, Energy and Yummy
i guess it was a pretty balanced breakfast but there is nothing to be shout for
ham was pretty tasteless, but love the scrambled (i requested for scrambled that is bit more wet) and bread..

and coffee is a must i guess
she had a latte, she say it was good, smooth, and awesome aroma
i had my single origin coffee
erm i'm not sure why, but this coffee didn't really leave a good impact
it was short, and i just remember it has higher level of acidity
i guess that's it, i shall try to more precisely next time
it was a pleasant coffee time
and since we are nearby, we'll just visit the highly raved dreamz bakery since its nearby
indeed, this place is fill with love
you can see every single effort of the owners in decorating the place
hand painted murals and decoration, lovely lovely

the cup and saucer set is so English..and we try to speak in English accent too..haha
the place was pretty small and especially when more customers are coming in, the place can be a bit too crowded
they have the layered crepe cake, cakes, the highly raved hello kitty cookies, macarons and cream puff all subject to availability

we tried the crepe cake, vanilla and chocolate crepe
the vanilla was tad too sweet for me and weren't light enough
it was pretty heavy, i'm not a big fan of chocolate but this time i preferred chocolate maybe because its not so sweet and more flavorful..i still prefer Nadeje!!

a great morning spent with Kimmie
