Warung, Mid Valley

after handling the thesis
we decided to head down to The Gardens for a mission
but the mission failed as we couldn't decided what to buy
so ended makan lo
gy sinn tagged along with us, and yes its my last outing with her
Warung, the corner store located near the ktm exits
where they had refurbished the whole area
infusing those kerusi and meja papan
having mamak food, good place when the budget is slightly tight

i'm bad at remembering the name of the kuih
but i knew its glutinous rice with grated coconut cooked with gula melaka
slightly oily but its good

the lepet pisang
i dunno why i never really like this kuih
its not because of the appearance
but i think its slightly mushy for me

don't both of them look lovely??:)

she is my dear at school
leaving to Singapore for practical soon enough
all the best to you girl
goin to miss you so much

this is what we came here for
the milo super kao kao
i like undissolved milo powder..haha
they said its mix with Dutch Lady milk..kengness..they even know which brand of milk

next was nasi tumpang..its was the Kelantan delicacy
i heard of it, its like 9 layers of nasi lemak though some layers are repetitive

this is how it looks
erm, is it that good?? not really
rice were not fluffy enough, the serunding is not flavorful enough
but its edible enough..haha

roti bakar
plain toasted white bread with kaya and slices of butter is never a wrong choice

you see how big mouth she ate
it means its good!!!
overall not a bad place la
a good stop for something local

we saw tis sheep at lovely lace
we fell in love with it
its so fat fat and soft soft
good to cuddle with it
but its certainly not cheapo!!!!

a full schedule day for me
love it or hate it
LOVE IT!!!

Fukuya, Jalan Delima

rushing for thesis is every single Food Study student work
its either we are slow or the lecturer is too particular about our work
but its better that the supervisor is particular coz we got another two external marker
6 credit hour for our thesis is pretty heavy though
and since me and yuan were already free from that, and my aunty is free
makan here we go..aunty is my lecturer, Dr. Boo..haha..

i decided to bring her to Fukuya but of coz she drove her baby elephant(her mpv) out lo..
Fukuya ambience was really comfortable, spacious and they have their own private room
but that day no electricity, but we still dine in..yuan was complaining HOT HOT HOT!!
she got this kind of ritual, whenever she dine at Japanese restaurant, she must have the following:
sashimi
tempura
noodles
Jap tofu

so we had our mini kaiseki set so that we could taste everything
above is the first course
so the little orange cube?? its like cold tofu but with this very strong fish taste but i don't mean those fishy bad kind of smell..its actually good..
then the shishamo..its good..very fat fish..loads of roe..
and of course the green pea..but i don't understand whats with the leaves presentation...

next was the sashimi
they are out of salmon that day..which is not a good thing for a Japanese restaurant
but the one served: tuna, sea bream and another white fish which i dunno..was thick and fresh
so i forgave them...haha

this is not from the set..but we love it from our first visit..we want it again
its actually bird eye chillies eel roll where they double fried it top with loads of tobikko and not ebikko..
the portion is huge..and its a bit troublesome to consumer since i need to discard the chilli padi coz its too spicy..but it was really really good..the fish is smooth, the slight spiciness after discarding with the roe..two thumbs up!!!!

the next course was the teapot soup
this is one thing i want to learn
its actually mushroom clear broth with a squeeze of lemon
very soothing and refreshing

the cha soba..or so called cold noodle..
i love eat soba all this while..with the broth mix with scallion, grated radish, quail egg
and they got extra sesame..
i dunno did they made their own noodle
but i couldn't care less coz i love it and that's the only thing matter to me..

i'm not going to post up every single dish, i guess its too long to go..

once again the grilled unagi with pickled pumpkin
i bet chan will said its mango
i loved the pickle more than the fish although this eel is on the fatty side..

i don't remember what fish is this
the flavor is okay but i felt the fish is a bit too tough for me
as though its over cooked..

here comes the favorite dish of Yuan
braised white radish with minced chicken
she missed the previous braised daikon so much
although the way of cooking is a bit different
but she said its still good..so its surely GOOD lo
braised to perfection..soft and the flavor of the broth that infused into the radish..yumm yumm..

the tempura..nothing to shout about
to me its just okay okay
or maybe we leaved it too long till it lost its crisp i guess

rice topped with ikura roe to go with the fish dish
i always had this fond towards ikura
especially when you bite the little orange pearl, and the flavor linger around you mouth
this sort of failed to had that effect
the flavor is still there of course
but its pretty soft..
but still acceptable..

the meal ended with fresh strawberries dust with icing sugar
a light end to a great meal!!!!!
with both that i heart so much..

so headed back to Serdang to pick up something that we had been working for the past one year
our THESIS..yuan wanted to be the top ten to hand it up
she made it to the top 5..haha..congrats..

the signature time to verify that we had handed the few green books
all the hard work just to produce this thesis
do we really felt happy for the work that we had done
not really
we felt happy because we were relieved its all over
nothing could be amend..and we finished it within the time limit
we did our very best..thats all!!!!!

i look super green hor...like a big tree
nyway what the title of my project again??

CONSUMER'S PERCEPTION TOWARDS TELEVISION FOOD PROGRAM

Perak Pt 2

the next morning,
the day started off with the well proclaimed Foh San Dim Sum
i know most locals go to another dim sum branch with the initial 'm'
but the incident there really make me think twice
so i do cross my finger so that Foh San was not that bad
we ordered quite some food, this is just part of it

siu mai

har kau

i heart this...the prawn is big big and fresh..and every mouthful makes me want for more but the stomach that day don't allow me to do so...

this is the one i love the most
the outer layer is something like mochi and the light fragrance of screwpine..really makes it tatse so much better.
the filling was not too sweet oo..
the dim sum place is really big, double storey shop
lotsa people
good business even its Monday

next stop, i want this even there are butterfly in my stomach
House of Mirror (Thean Chun)
egg custard

the wobbly egg custard with caramel sauce
its served cold, very silky
it just went down your throat
very smooth and i love the eggu texture..
this is their to die for dessert

next was the satay at the same shop as well
you don't have to tell them the amount you want
they will bring the plate and only when bill
they will count the stick you eat

some of my mates said its not hygiene. cross contamination wor
its porky satay, not bad but Malacca wan was so so much better
but they did say the intestine was really crisp..

we continue our journey
eating again..i know..no sight-seeing pic right
but my mates don't like to do that
so its all bout makan!!!!

funny soya bean drink and tau fu fah
my tongue twist all the time when i pronounced it
its either i called it 'tou fu fah' instead of tou fu hua
or tau fu hua instead of tau fu fah

back to both of the soya product
maybe im not an expert
i actually don't find it very very special besides you smelled the soya flavor
and the tau fu fah was really smooth

next stop
the original old town kopitiam
old town kopitiam has been broadly franchised
every single corner at each city, u will find at least one old town

this time we went the first sho
Nam Heong Kopitiam

the white coffee is a must order right
thick thick white coffee
jus make everyone awake

tarts to be mentioned here
sadly SiMee market egg tart is closed on every Monday
we bared with Name Heong's wan
its not that bad though
the crust was pretty thin..hui yuan heart it
i heard that ce heart it too
and one thing to be mention was................

do you see how thick is the filling??!!!!!!!
i seldom find egg tart nowadays are so thick
this is just a bonus to all of us..haha

the journey almost reach the end
by purchasing JJ cakes swiss roles at nearby MGS
ok.. alot flavor
but its too wet for my liking..not the kind of roll i like
but lee ming love it..subjective topic once again

we wanted to go Kellis castle, but it was raining..
so o castle, no papan and no photographing...
but we do stop by Sam Poh Tong
din went Kek Lok Si also coz its already pouring
wasted!!!

everyone was once again half dead on the journey back
tired!!!!! but to me at least we still made it there
and thanks to Hui Yuan for the pictures..
since my camera went for body check...

this might be the last
but the memory will live through

hugs and kisses

Perak Pt 1

my last trip with my coursemates
plan plan plan..it do work out at last
and this time, we depart with only one MPV
of course the driver, Ms Boo..thanks especially to your GPS
1st stop: Bidor Duck Noodle
i remember having this everytime i pass by Perak during chilhood time

the yam pastry 'wu kok'
is it good..not really
not crisp enough and the yam not that smooth
the feeling also so so only..

they still have the duck drumstick with the herbal broth
the herbal flavor is not that strong
still not bad for a start..
they have the soup and the dried version..the dried version soup is more flavorful..

next stop, we head down to Chan's hometown, Teluk Intan

my Perak travel mates
from left: Mr. Chan Wei Leong, lee ming, fs, yong, and of course my aunty, Dr. Boo
2 are missing..sobs sobs..
oh ya ms oh is the photographer..

the Menara Condong in Teluk Intan
you can't really see the 'kecondongan' unless you look at it from far
standing in the middle of the city
just a menara with 8 floors but you only climb 2 times of stairs and you reached the peak
i still can't figure out why, i guess its the good architecture

the so called Teluk Intan Hong Wan Lou signature wantan mee
it was opened by Chan's family
every single stall is family related
his dad made their own noodle..using the bamboo stick..cool huh..
his mummy was really cute..very hillarious..oh ya, my travel mate said their white coffee is good though

i really need something cooling
the weather was freaking HOT HOT HOT..
so it ICe time again
above that is mine..the jelly thing was like 'ai yu ping' where u get at pasar malam
and the limau kasturi is pickled with brine..really really salty so discard the peel of the limau
then mix everything together
its really refreshing for the day..COOLING!!!!

the watermelon dessert and the honey dew dessert
be careful while eating cause they found metal wire in it
not one but two
i don't think it taste as good as mine cause they say the coconut milk flavor was too thick
after Teluk Intan we head down to Taiping
for the curry chicken bread..lee gang favourite

ahh..the famous roti with curry chicken
you can either choose a whole chicken or half
curry chicken flavor or the herbal chicken
two thumbs up for this
the bread to soak up the sauce of the curry chicken
really taste good
i still know its good though im already pretty blur that time...haha

then we went to have the peanut dessert and mua chi..i think only the locals know this place
but the peanut 'hu' finish dy
left the mua chi..homemade muachi..small packet cost RM 1.70
but i do hope its a bigger bite even it tasted so yummy!!!!

cam whoring while waiting for the rest to finish their hotel room 'meeting'

next stop for dinner is the Onn Kee Hor Fun
people nowadays said this stall is better then the Lou Wong coz the rival shop is meant for tourist
we just believes what the local said
but i am disappointed with the results though
the fatty taugeh to go with the hor fun and steamed chicken
i tasted a mouth of Hui Yuan oily rice
and it didn't taste that nice as well

the famous chicken of Ipoh
i know a lot of ppl won't agree with me especially the Ipoh people
but this is really not that good too me or i'm unlucky that day
the meat was so tough..its not smooth
i don't really fancy it..

the mixed chicken innards
whats the yellowish thing again huh??
i just remember it tasted not bad though..

the next stop was the dessert street @ tong sui kai
actually its not really the whole street la
just a few stalls, its basically a whole row of hawker stall
almost each of us got our own dessert
and the funniest of all was the bubur chacha top with shaved ice
thats really funny but of course half of the bowl left untouched

this was mine.鸡蛋武夷茶.
erm..too sweet for my liking though
but the egg is good enough of me at the raining weather

the mix fruit ice shaved..
from the pic itself, basically ice-cream, mix fruits, ice..

then it was KTV moment
it was pouring heavily that night
and miao and her brother joined us for the ktv
all kinds of song are sang
but almost half of the group were half dead
after ktv, its supper time
of coz ICE BEER time at Sun Yun Wah Cafe

ice beer is basically where the beer and glass are really chilled
till its freezing cold and the way you poured into the glass
where the whole glass is frothy beer
drink before the froth disappear, you will feel really cooling
but after that, its basically normal beer la

deep fried butter prawn mantis (RM17)
this is good though..
crispy and good to go with the cooling beer

spicy stir fried bali tong (RM17)
this is my easiest experience in consuming balitong
i think is because they cut the end of the shell deep enough
so its really easy to suck it out
yummy too

thats the last meal on the first day

more to come
