Haute Food Co, Plaza Damas

i din realize that i haven't blog about this place until i browse through my archive
i love this place, its the kind of cafe that i wish i would have one day
small, simple, cosy, nice comfort food
the only thing is, this place is far from my work place..or else...

they basically serve breakfast, lunch and tea time here
all sorts of sandwich and pastry
they have daily special too..just refer back to the staffs and the board
been here a few times, quality was pretty consistent besides when they are really super duper busy..
this place is usually packed in the weekend
but who cares..as long as you get a table and the food!!!!

one of my fav here, roast beef caramelized onion and mizuna with toasted rye..and they are definitely not stingy with the salad..you can still see the pinkish roast beef, tender accompanied with the sweet onion..and serving it on the chopping board make it rustic!! love it!!

another simple sandwich, smoked chicken, sundried tomato pesto and cheese..but i'm not sure do they still have it..i went last weekend and they have canceled off 2 sandwiches..wonder why though..
you can always choose the kind of bread you prefer; fresh or toasted: white, multigrain or rye

next was the scones..served with cream and preserves..i preferred their cheese scones more..their scones are more on the soft side, buttery and doesn't crumble like certain scones we had somewhere else..good to go with a cup of earl grey for tea time

of course, good food goes with good coffee..one shot of macchiato..they used Genovese coffee from Melbourne which i find pretty good..don't ask me about the flavor profile though i'm half way through the barista course..

i love latte..especially with the stomach condition, black coffee is just too much..
a balance of coffee and milk makes my day better!!

oh, of course after hanging around at the place, we went back for tea time...hahaha

we wanted sunset, but they are out of it..so we have sunrise..sunrise during teatime?? doesn't sounds right but it taste right..its basically orange juice and grenadine..i know nothing so special, but i love the color..so bright..so beautiful..certainly makes orange juice taste better.. psychology..

warm bread butter pudding with vanilla ice cream..nicely baked..get it fast because they are usually sold out pretty fast..this was the last piece..pretty decent..i'm not sure what kind of bread they used..should be croissant..but its delicious!!!

one of their best seller, sticky date pudding..i had mixed feeling about this though..the first time i love it..not too sweet, warm yummy..but the second time i had it, it was so sweet and i couldn't finish half of it..wonder how third time will be like??

anyway, ending the day with a good cup of cappuccino and a good company was just lovely!!!

Leonardo's, Jalan Bangkung Bangsar

this post has been drag way too long
getting a bit lazy lately, but better late than never right...i shall post something more recent..haha
Elcerdo has been a good choice for porky meal, but i found a new gem, okay maybe they have been existing very long, lame me...Leonardo's located at Jalan Bangkung
its time to celebrate again

we love their bread..warm..dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil..yummy...

Grilled portabello mushroom..very simple dish but well executed. very flavorful and well seasoned with the cheese melted on top make a good start for the evening.

i love mushroom soup, but sometimes its pretty disappointing to get mushroom soup that tasted just like canned soup..but Leonardo's mushroom soup was good n yummy..not too thick, just nice for cream soup, very flavorful and subtle hint of truffle oil completed it as well..

Spanish Black Pig Shoulder Loin Steak..usually we dont have doneness issue when it comes to pork. but for this, they actually cook it medium well where u can still see the pink inside. its slightly tougher then the usual pork but yummy..once again accompanied with truffle mashed potatoes!!!

my favorite of the night, Ranjit pasta..don't ask me why Ranjit..some bloggers commented this is plain, nothing to shout about, normal bacon pasta..but its comfort food for me especially its raining night..clean, simple, TASTY!!!that makes me smile!!!

alright, this is not in the menu..we ordered a chocolate volcano and waited for 20 minutes. the chef came and apologize saying that the staff break the volcano..don't ask me how either..and since we chose not to wait for the second serving, they gave us a complimentary fruit platter which was equally good for us. As least, a healthy ending!!!
overall, it was a great dining experience..and i did came back for the second visit with my girls..more to come!!

The Suffolk House, Jalan Air Itam

what better things to do on a breezy afternoon then having afternoon tea with the girlfriends
and that's what we did, they brought me to this place called Suffolk House which they previously dine in for dinner and had good reviews about it..
it is a beautiful place almost like a mansion
the ambiance and architecture pictured the classy English style
and its best accompanied with good tea and pastries

thanks again for bringing me here

a perfect companion for the day

lets start off with a pot of tea from Ronnedfelt, always love their tea since i was exposed to it during my internship in Rasa Sayang. Each of us select a different tea, i stick to the camomile's as i needed the 'calm' during that period.haha.
if only this brand of tea is available on the market shelves.

here comes the pastries, strawberry tart, puff that contains something alcoholic and cookies.
sorry to said, i did not really favor any of those.
cookies were too hard and dry..and the flavor of the puff is too overpowering that i left it untouched after a bite. strawberry tart was nothing to be shout about
doesn't seems like a good start right??
but what comes next was the highlight!!!!

Chicken and mushroom pie..they were warm upon serving
crisp on the outer layer and creamy filling in the inside. the size was pretty big too for an afternoon tea
its time to act like a lady using the fork and knife

Next was the warm scones, we love scones and we do love their scone..
pre-warm before sent to us and the accompaniment
usually a good Devon clotted cream and strawberry will be excellent for me
this time, it came with butter, cream and four different homemade preserve..
they were delicious!!!

Finally, the last tier.simple cucumber sandwich and salmon sandwich..what a lovely lovely tea time..wish that the Klang Valley would have more this kind of place besides Carcosa and also hotels.

if you happens to be in Penang, nothing do in the afternoon, i would suggest to hop in here..the tea time starts from 2.30pm to 6.00 pm.

excellent for a lazy Sunday afternoon

Amelia Cafe, Lebuh Armenian

found a little gem down the street of Lebuh Armenian
when i step my foot in, i'm in love with this little cosy cafe, decorated with things that are so familiar, lovely!!
all the painting on board, the writings, so rustic yet so warm in heart.
hy sis is also one loyal customer to this cafe

they have their daily special written on board.
you might just get a little surprise everytime you are there.

Mango lassi..a good drink to quench thirst with the hot weather. very refreshing although it lack a bit of sweetness for me (thinking of my Australian mango..yum..)..they have also other lassi depending on whats on the menu.

hyuan favorite drink, longan and lime..not too sweet..she loves it so much..its almost like the ice blended texture but slightly rougher.

Bagels!!! always love bagels. what else when it came along with bcaons, fresh greens and a dollop of mustard. portion was just good enough, might not be enough for heavy eater. bagel  toasted with the crunch of the bacon and balancing with the greens..lovely!!!

the obviously satisfy customer!!

a simple sausage olio. nothing to be shout for but pasta was cooked al dente. not drenched with oil like some olio you find out there. nothing too heavy for the hot afternoon. sometimes, simplicity is the best as life is too complicated.

hope to pay a second visit to this lovely lovely cafe.

Yummy Char Kuey Teow

Finally, i have some spare time to blog after the end of the competition 'Battle Of The Chef'. More on that some other time since i had delayed so many stuffs. This review was way far behind the schedule, it was merely my escape to Penang previously but this is also where i found my current most yummy delicious Char Kuey Teow

The Duck Egg Char Kuey Teow at Bukit Mertajam..i'm not a big fan of Char Kuey Teow but this is GOOD...we waited quite some time as the place is full..all waiting for a plate of hot piping char kuey teow..adding on a sunny side up is just an extra bonus.
What Chinese say when it comes to Char Kuey Teow, WOK HEI, they definitely have it..big prawns, shrimp, bean sprouts, egg, cockles, PORK LARD n CHINESE SAUSAGE!!!! u named it, they have it.perfectly fried, although it seems oily, but it don't feel really greasy especially coated with the egg yolk.
CKT lover would have to come and try it out yourself.

its definitely worth the wait. the next time i'm there i want Jalan Kulim, Bukit Mertajam Char Kuey Teow!!!
even a creepy friend of mine don't mind waiting.

scary Chloe!!!
